UPDATE: DANAYA BROWN'S LAST DAY
My friend Danaya Brown lost her fight with leukemia this afternoon at 12:20pm Pacific time. Her husband Mark said if it would help even one person to know of her story that I should continue putting it out there. There have been so many amazing lessons here, I certainly have learned a great deal and have met many fine people who have volunteered to help, so here goes, once again. Mark called me at 6:30 this morning saying Danaya's pulse was 180 and had been holding for the last few hours. I don't know how a person can live through several hours of a pulse that high. He said the docs predict she will die today. With one of her last sentances during the mid-morning, she said that she wanted her friend and the monks from Wat Buddanusorn to be present at her side, then lapsed into semi-consciousness. My heart felt very, very heavy as we hung up the phone. I continued to send Reiki, love and prayer to them both. The funeral is already being planned at the Wat. Mark is mentally packing his bags for Thailand where he will take Danaya's ashes and dedicate himself as a Buddhist monk for some period of time as he mourns.
After my husband and I dropped Adonea at the airport in the early afternon, we went to the Brown house nearby to play with the two kitties, as Mark had said said earlier that they were getting lonely and wouldn't mind some company. We were suprised to find Mark and his mother on the porch. Mark gave us the sad, but joyous news of Danaya's passing. He, a Thai friend and the good monks of Wat Buddanusorn were with Danaya in her final moments. It was, he said, very sweet. She rallied towards the end and with a final burst of energy and spoke briefly to her family by cellphone. Her last words, like the compassionate life she lived, were "I love you". On a grey-brown, smoggy, absolutely ordinary afternoon, Danaya taught her final lesson and departed this earth school in as graceful and loving an exit as the life she lived. Mark's email notification later in the evening reports "An angel has returned to heaven." I'm very thankful for being allowed to participate in her wonderful life. Dearest Danaya, I pray you have a beautiful new assignment full of light, love, laughter and joy. Thank you for keeping your gentle, loving watch over us all.
I would appreciate those keeping up with this chronicle who have been sending prayers, Reiki and other forms of healing to also direct your efforts towards Danaya's husband Mark Brown, his family, and Danaya's family in Thailand. Thank you all so very much - we are all so appreciative to those who have stepped up to volunteer their help. Many blessings to you...
